2018-2019 HCR MLK, JR Diversity Arts Contest Announcment


 2018-2019 JCTA’s Human & Civil Rights Committee’s Annual MLK, Jr. Diversity Art Contest Information:


Elementary (K-3, 4-5, ECE):

“The time is always right to do what is right.” —from a commencement speech at Oberlin College, 1965.

Middle School (6-8, ECE)/High School (9-12, ECE):

“We cannot walk alone.  And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.  We cannot turn back..”excerpt from "I Have a Dream" Speech at Lincoln Memorial, Washington, D. C., 1963.


Student Winners for each age/category will be invited to attend Jefferson County Teacher Association’s MLK, Jr Memorial Dinner on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Students will also be provided two complimentary banquet tickets for guests. Winning students will recognized during the banquet with both a Certificate of Achievement AND a $75.00 Amazon gift card.


Affiliated Teachers who actively assist winning students will also will be recognized for their support with an invitation to the MLK, JR Memorial Dinner being held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 , and will receive a $50.00 Amazon gift card.

 

NOTE: ALL MLK, Jr Diversity Arts Contest submissions are due to the JCTA Office by 5:00 pm on Friday, November 30, 2018.
