JCTA is governed by a multitude of elected officials. Our organization is led by four officers and our board of directors. Our main policy-making body is the professional representative council, which is comprised of representatives from each school site or program location. Each school is allowed one professional representative and one alternate for every fifteen members or a major fraction thereof at its site. JCTA also has a full-time employee staff who help implement our policies, advise the leadership, and advocate for members.
JCTA continues to be the collective bargaining agent for over 6,000 Jefferson County Public Schools certified personnel employees for over fifty years.
We represent teachers, librarians, speech clinicians, physical therapists, and occupational therapists in every one of the public schools throughout Jefferson County.
Our JCTA Mission:
• Organize and Empower Public Educators
• Promote Success for Every Learner
• Serve as the Active Voice for Excellence in Public Education
• Advocate for the Rights and Interests of Members
• Advance Human, Civil, and Economic Rights for All
